'Definitive' Snoop Dogg's Biopic Coming On The Big Screen

Universal Pictures announced that the definitive biopic of Snoop Dogg, the entertainment industry mogul and gangsta rap icon, is in the works.

The film will be written by Joe Robert Cole, who co-wrote Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and directed by Allen Hughes.

Snoop is heavily involved in the project announced Wednesday, which will include music from his back catalog.

He is producing the feature with Sara Ramaker and Hughes. The project will mark Snoop's debut film for Death Row Pictures, which he runs with Ramaker.

“I waited a long time to put this project together because I wanted to choose the right director, the perfect writer, and the greatest movie company,” Snoop said.

Universal chairman Donna Langley said she "had the opportunity to hear [Snoop's] story in his own words".

Snoop Dogg broke through in the early 90s as part of the West Coast rap scene as Dr. Dre's collaborator. He will produce the film with Sara Ramaker and Hughes.
