American Rapper Takeoff, from the Grammy-nominated Atlanta-based hip-hop group Migos, has been shot dead at the age of 28 in Houston, Texas.

The star was killed Tuesday at a bowling alley where he was playing dice with his uncle and bandmate Quavo.

About 50 people were present in the bowling alley at the time of the shooting. The outlet also reported that two others were injured in the incident.

However, police told the BBC they would not officially confirm the identity until the victim's family had been notified.

Takeoff's lawyer, Drew Findling, told the New York Times that the rapper's death was "a devastating loss, particularly for Atlanta".

Hours before the shooting, Takeoff posted a photo of a bowling alley on his Instagram story.

Born June 18, 1994, Takeoff was best known for his membership in Migos along with Quavo, his uncle, and Offset.
